 JUNE 2006

It is already June and an early winter is upon us. Please take good care of yourself and do not contract flu or colds - we need those billable hours to be steady! (?).

Things at Exponant are moving ahead just fine.

  • Unit 4 Agresso has renewed the offshore contract with Exponant directly - thus cutting out the middleman (Chain). Some high tempers, but it was the right decision after four years.

  • We are now a fully-fledged Agresso Partner, have made our first sale and decided to put our full weight behind Agresso in South Africa. Paul Bouwman now heads up this division and has withdrawn from the OSIS project.

  • Bill Dyzel and Annelie Wessels, the site managers at OSIS, now look after our people and interest at OSIS.

So now we are totally committed to market and support a very competitive ERP product to the likes of SAP and Oracle. Any opportunities?

  • Things at Vodacom are also picking up speed. Apart from the Omnix and Archibus projects, we are also involved in Radio Planning and some other generic consultancy.

  • Telkom unit is growing fast with ten new appointments lately. Nico and his team are seldom seen as they are totally overloaded and committed to serious deadlines.

  • The Cape Branch is now almost thirty strong, with new opportunities as well.

  • KZN Branch has kicked off and we are holding thumbs for growth there.

  • Philip and his team are very active in Africa. The Omnix Pilot in Uganda is in its evaluation phase and we hope to get additional orders soon.

  • The Johannesburg Branch has a lot of potential and we plan to move that responsibility to Yogi soon. The SABC team is crunching ahead and the Liberty Team is settling in, with growth potential. Other immediate opportunities are at SBSA and WITS University.

  • Agriculture is up for renewal of contracts, and Wikus and his team there are doing sterling work.

  • We received orders for new work at Necsa, with Conrad and Errol up to their elbows with work.

  • Inmate Tracking at Johannesburg Medium A is stable and we are holding our breaths for future contracts.

  • The technology for the Baby Sure RFID initiative is almost complete and we will look for a suitable Pilot Project soon.

There are many other projects in full swing and some other initiatives we are still working on - but for now, we are excited and grateful for the opportunities coming our way.

On previous occasions, I have asked the teams to submit case studies on their projects. We can use it for marketing material, but also to inform our peers of what we are doing. Sharon was the first to comply with news from the Cape, and I attach her contribution to this newsletter. Please follow suite!!

On a more personal note, the Exponant Community, spearheaded by the Site Managers Forum, is well established. It is based on a concept of caring, sharing and being part of. We hope to use this medium to get closer to everybody involved with Exponant and to create an environment where everyone can feel part of our great community. We recently used this community to raise funds for our social involvement (amongst others for Wanda's daughter) and were delighted with the results. Within one week we raised in excess of R100 000, which will be used to lighten the load of many worthy causes. Now, aint that great!

Also on this front, I want to thank everyone for their support and concern over Mari's accident. She is still in ICU, but has stabilised for now and we pray for her recovery.

Things are a bit hectic at head office with the financial year end approaching and Agresso also being implemented here. Juanitha has taken to her job like a duck to water and she is revisiting all of our policies and consultant support documentation.

Thank you for all your dedication and hard work - Let us build this place exponantially!

    Regards,
    Marius Pels
