| Exponªnt is spreading its wings world-wide |
| |
| Started in 1998 primarily to provide professional information technology solutions and consulting services to customers in South Africa, Exponªnt has now spread its wings and has become a major player locally and internationally.
|
| |
|
One of its projects that has suddenly become very topical is a software solution the company produced for the Atomic Energy Corporation of South Africa (NECSA) for tracking the safe and verifiable dismantlement of South Africa's nuclear arsenal as well as for the safe disposal of nuclear waste. The programme could be effectively used in both North Korea and Iran should these countries choose to abandon their nuclear ambitions. |
| |
| A software solution produced in partnership with SABC TV to improve its license fee collection system has resulted in a whopping 28% increase in license payment revenue. Apart from its role in the production of the system, Exponªnt is also responsible for the maintenance of it. This package is also ideally suited for the collection of the billions of Rand in outstanding municipal debt. |
| |
| A system that the company is particularly proud of is the OSIS programme it maintains for the South African Navy and SA Air force. It tracks the entire maintenance schedule for each ship and aircraft individually to determine when it is due for maintenance and informs technicians and engineers of exactly what has to be done. |
| |
|
Based on this experience, Exponªnt has been appointed by SAAB Sweden to develop a solution for the SA destined Grippen Aircraft. |
| |
|
Exponªnt's international activities have started contributing substantially to the company's revenue stream with the appointment as the global maintenance supplier for the Agresso suite of ERP solutions. This means that a South African company is responsible for all changes that have to be made to the Norwegian package. Rapidly chasing packages like Oracle and SAP, Agresso is set for double digit growth in the next few years, with a worldwide installed base in excess of 2000 organisations. |
| |
| The company has subsequently been appointed as sole representative of the Agresso Business World ERP in Southern Africa. |
| |
| Exponªnt has also entered the African market with its point of sale payment facility servicing the booming cellular telephone industry. The company has successfully entered markets in Malawi, Gabon, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Niger, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. |
| |
|
The company is also the sole African agent for the UK based Omnix Program and Project Management solution which is used for the highly complex project planning and logistics that are necessary when planning and maintaining a cellular telephone network. |
| |
| A brand new product that is now in its final development stage is BabySure - an integrated solution that will for once and all stop the theft of babies from maternity wards. Based on RFID technology, a small transponder is used to track the baby everywhere it moves within the maternity ward. |
| |
| Surefire, the adult version of the product, has been successfully implemented at a number of prisons for inmate tracking. Following approval by the Department of Correctional Services, the system is expected to be implemented at prisons countrywide. |
| |
| A feat that the company is particularly proud of is the fact that after it had to import most of the components for its radio frequency (RF) tracking system, it has now become a net exporter of components that are smaller, smarter and generally a lot cheaper. |
